Coventry Street

Berlin und Dresden

Hello Jenny! This is my new blog. I am going to post here photos and blog posts that might interest you, and anyone else who calls by.

Coventrystraße means ‘Coventry Street’ in German and is the name of a road in our twin city of Dresden in eastern Germany. So it is a sign of friendship (and I know you are learning German at school). We don’t have a Dresden Street in Coventry yet, but it would be a good idea I think.

We do have the round signs in the photo. They can be found on the pavement in front of the Transport Museum, together with signs naming other cities that are capital cities or twin cities of Coventry (or both). They were put there in 2000 as part of a Millennium Clock. The Clock has gone but the place names are still there. You used to like to look for the one that said Yaoundé, because that was where you lived for nearly a year with your mother when you were two, turning three years old.
